Sculpt a Seal Workshop
Spend a relaxing 3½ hours immersed in creativity as you sculpt your own ceramic seal, inspired by the resident colony of common seals that live along the shores of Strangford Lough.
The workshop takes place beside the boathouse, where you’ll have the opportunity to step outside and observe the seals in their natural habitat before returning to the studio to begin your sculpture. Using photographs for inspiration—or your own reference images—you’ll learn about seal anatomy, proportions and simple sculpting techniques to create a unique piece. Whether you choose a seal resting on the shore, swimming gracefully or curled into a crescent shape, you’ll be guided through every step of the process.
Suitable for complete beginners and those with some clay experience, this small-group workshop (maximum of 10 participants) offers plenty of individual tuition. Once your sculpture is complete, you’ll decorate it using ceramic underglazes to add colour and character.
Midway through the session, enjoy a 30-minute break with refreshments, homemade treats and a delicious cream tea, giving you time to relax and take in the beautiful surroundings.
After the workshop, your sculpture will be, fired and glazed, ready to collect approximately one week later.
All materials, firing and refreshments are included.
